Supposedly to the north of this continent is the Sinnoh region. Routes located wholly within Kanto are numbered 1 to 25 routes 26, 27, and 28 connect Kanto with Johto. Hoenn, introduced in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, is supposedly further to the southwest. Kanto lies to the east of Johto they presumably make up a small continent to the south of Kanto are the Sevii and Orange Islands. The resemblance between the bay formations seen on the in-game map and the actual Sagami Bay, Suruga Bay, and Tokyo Bay formations is particularly striking. Kanto is the only one that shares its name with a real-world location. It is modeled and named after the Kantō region of Japan, which includes, amongst other cities, the capital Tōkyō, where Game Freak is headquartered. It was then followed by Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola, and Galar. Kanto is the first region in the Pokémon universe and in the popular series, games and anime. If you want something random, stupid, funny and crazy to watch then this show is definitely a good choice.Map of Kanto in Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, in HeartGold and SoulSilver and in FireRed and LeafGreen. It simply wants their viewers to enjoy something wacky and i think it does a great job of that. Like it's trying to be anything but an over the top, mindless fun, enjoyable show. It put's cliches and generics into short lovable episodes that are very entertaining to watch, they're around 3 minutes each so it's not It's cute, funny and has a pretty decent art style. Going into this i expected nothing and with that said i can safely say that this show is mean't to be watched in a light hearted manner. Probably because it seems like another "stupid generic anime".īut as far as i can tell it's not suppose to be serious or anything. Well obviously this anime isn't received very well.

So this is going to be a on-going review until the series finishes. The more serious parts of the show, which granted also ruin the comedy vibe, may prove difficult to muscle through. The comedy in this show is nothing really original, but is still fairly entertaining and a quick laugh.

Many of the characters are willing to help others out, though several are still motivated by selfish reasoning. Beyond stuff like the “power” of the hot springs and the importance of tourism, the show offers subtle themes on the importance of serving others. Overall, the soundtrack is pretty general.Īs both a short show and one that is meant to act as an advertisement, there aren’t any heavy themes being promoted. However, the opening song may come across as annoying to some people, though I personally like it. The soundtrack is pretty decent, and serves the purposes of the show. While it is by no means the worse animation out there, it is nothing stellar. It seems rushed, and the backgrounds for scenes tend to be sort of poor. The animation is the biggest suffering point for Hakone-chan. There is not too much to put about the characters, other than they are pretty likeable and fit into the show well.

It is a bit confusing at the beginning who the initial main character is, but it becomes easy to guess that it is the titular character Hakone-chan. Onsen Yousei Hakone-chan has an actual plot (to a degree), more than most shorts I have seen.Īgain, length prevents the series from developing characters too much, but the characters are all pretty good at sticking to their original characterization.

Most people agree that the series could have been into a full length anime, but I digress. Granted, the whole purpose of the anime is serve for an advertisement for Hakone, and other hot spring regions in Japan, and it does a decent job at this. The conflict at the beginning of the series also seems to have faded in significance, and a new conflict had emerged, which something else I take trouble with. A plot returns around the last few episodes, where the series tries to be more serious as opposed to the primary comedy aspect it carries. The first five episodes focus heavily on the initial problem of Hakone-chan getting her power back, but beyond this point, the story becomes more loose and less focused. Hakone-chan has a bit more plot than the typically short, with the conflict spanning over several episodes and the story moving forward. I also reviewed as a short, not as a full anime

I tried my best to be unbiased in the review though. This is ironically one of my favorite anime.
